Billy Terrell

 

He played football and baseball at Wilson High School for three years. The 1983 to 1985 baseball teams were multiple time area and county champions. In 2004 a Times Daily newspaper article recognized the Wilson High School 1985 4A baseball state championship team as the best team of all time from this area. Personally, Terrell boasted a .475 batting average in his junior year; and a .397 batting average in his senior year with 13 RBIs, 29 hits, and 34 stolen bases. The Times Daily recognized him as a baseball All-County team member in his junior and senior years. Terrell was recognized as an All-Area team member for football and baseball in his senior year. The Birmingham News placed him on the All-State First Team as a receiver. Terrell played collegiate baseball at the University of North Alabama for four years. He ranks third in UNA history in career stolen bases with 83 and ninth in Gulf South Conference history for career steals with 83. Terrell’s teams at UNA combined for a 147-56-3 record with two NCAA Division II South Central Regional appearances and a Gulf South Conference championship in his senior year. Since college he has coached baseball and football and taught for twenty years in the Lauderdale County system. He spent eleven years at Brooks High School where he led the team to three area runner-up finished and an area championship.
