Dave Smith 

A graduate of Central High School.  There are no stats available.  He played basketball at Freed Hardeman for two years (1965-1966).  No stats available.  He was selected to several All-Regional teams and led the team in several stats.  After two years at Freed Hardeman he went to Oklahoma Christian University, where he was a standout, in 1967 and 1968.  He led the team to a 38-9 record in two seasons, NAIA District 9 Champions and NAIA National Tournament appearance in 1968.  He averaged 19.2 ppg. and 13 rpg. his junior year and 18.4 ppg. and 11 rpg. his senior year.  He was inducted into the Oklahoma Christian Athletic Hall of Fame in 1990.  He was inducted into the Freed Hardeman Athletic Hall of Fame in 1990 and received an Honorary Doctorate of Law degree.  In 2010 the original field house on the OC campus was rededicated the "Dave Smith Athletic Center"?.  After college, he was named Oklahoma All-City Coach of the Year, in 1976 after his team won the State Championship.  He has fished the Professional BASSMASTER Tour for the last twenty five years, qualifying as an Elite Pro for the last ten years.
