Evelyn Fuqua

Larry Sinyard calls her the "best female athlete to ever participate in Lauderdale County." In track, she holds Lauderdale County High School records in the 100 yard dash (11.1 seconds), 220-yard dash (26.1 seconds), long jump (17 feet, 9 1/2 inches), high jump (4 feet, 8 inches), and member of 440 relay team (50.3 seconds), and member of the mile relay team (4:20 .7). The long jump and 440 relay times are state records. The Tigers finished second in the state in 1977 and 1979, and won the state championship in 1978. In basktball, she started six seasons on the varsity team. She led the team in scoring, steals and assists for three straight years, leading the team to a combined record of 57-10 and three straight county and area championships. She played two years each at Calhoun and UNA. In volleyball, she started on the LCHS varsity team for six years, making the All-County team each year.
