Rilly Strona Winkle 

 

She set the Masters world swimming record for the 200 meter mixed medley relay with a time of 2:12.02 (old record, 2:13.28) and the 200 meter mixed free relay with a time of 1:52.67 (old record 1:55.04). She was featured in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd section in 1969 after breaking three Southeast AAU records as an 8-year-old. She won numerous swimming and diving competitions as a youth while also excelling in track and gymnastics. She graduated from Bradshaw in 1979 after a stellar career in athletics. She was undefeated in cross country as a freshman, and won the state championship by breaking the state record by 30 seconds as a freshman. She continued to break records and in swimming and track meets and won numerous titles through much of her high school career. She was state champion numerous times in the mile and 880 runs. She was offered a track scholarship at Alabama but chose to pursue swimming. She lettered three years and became MVP for the Boston University women's swim team She was ranked in the top 10 in the 50-yard freestyle event, and set numerous school and regional swimming records.
