Ronnie Ritter

Considered by many to be the best defensive back in Lauderdale County in 1972 and 1973. He was chosen to the honorable mention all-state team as a senior.  He holds the LCHS record for longest interception return at 100 yards. After serving as an assistant football coach at Rogers, Muscle Shoals and Decatur, he became head baseball coach at Muscle Shoals in 1984 and posted a 25-6 record. He then coached baseball 1986-1991 at Decatur, posting a 78-46 record. In 1991 he became head football coach of his alma mater where he would serve as head coach for the next 16 years. He led the Tigers to a 106-77 overall record, 12 playoff appearances and two final four appearances. He was the TimesDaily coach of the year in 1991 and 1995.
