Ronnie Swoopes

 

He played football at Bradshaw High School and the University of Georgia. At Bradshaw he was All Tri-Cities, All Conference, All Tennessee Valley, and All State. He attended UGA on academic scholarship. While at Georgia the UGA defensive unit was named in his honor; “Ronnie and the Runts”. He was considered by many to be the original “Junkyard Dawg”. He made the All SEC Freshman Team and he was named to All SEC Defensive Teams 1975-1977. He currently remains ranked 3rd on Georgia’s single season All Time Primary Tackles list and 15th on career All Time Primary Tackles list. He is a member of the Georgia NCAA Hall of Fame. His professional attempts at pro ball were with the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers and Hamilton Tiger Cats in Ontario.
